Default New belt

I just noticed that the teeth are coming off of my belt. 2007 FLHTCU with 48,000 miles. Is this all I should expect to get out of a belt? Should I go with an after market belt? I am pretty easy on my bikes. I usually shift around 3,000rpm's. Most of my miles are from commuting. I use the cruise control quite a bit. Thanks W

Belts have been known to last longer, when was the last time, and how often do you check the tension on your belt, also be sure to check the pulley.

Wow I have 50K on my 05 and have never had a problem with the belt. Like dbell says have you checked your tension lately?

belts usually last a long time --around 100k miles...but if they get some crap in them or you run them to loose or tight that can cause them to break down prematurely...I have a friend wo was driving on a newly blacktoped road and the little left over black pieces of asphalt got in between his belt and pulley and tore his belt up...sometimes **** just happens...
