Rokker Amplifier Options
Posting this for a buddy who is looking for options...
Got a buddy that just picked up a set of J&M Rokker speakers for his Ultra Limited. He went with the Rokkers for all four speakers, 7.25" in front, 5.25" rear I believe. He has the speakers installed and is not too impressed at this point, understandable seeing how these speakers are basically marketed as "for amp use only". Anyway, he's now in the market for an amp. I have come up with several options for him but no "perfect fit".
Here's what I know:
J&M- Probably would work but is over $700!!!
Arc- sounds like its good stuff but the 125.4 is tough to fit in the fairing
Rockford Fosgate- PBR300x4 is only good for 4ohm
All he really needs is something with some punch that will run these four 2ohm speakers. He also wants it to fit in the fairing if possible. I know there are 40wx4 units that will fit but am having a tough time coming up with a higher powered unit. What are you 2ohm guys running? Surely not everyone bought the J&M full setup. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

If your buddy wants an in-fairing amp, he'll want to mount the CB module under the HK radio--Scott Ezzell (ezzell141@comcast.net) sells one that works great--I have one on my bike. He designed the rack and has a third party make it for him.
From a cost standpoint, he'll be better off selling the Rocker speakers; buying the RF PBR300x4; and, buying new 4 ohm speakers.
I'm not a follower of Hawg-wired products, but he may find an amp that will work with his 2 ohm speakers.

you can also mount the J&M 2-ch amp in the fairing of your Ultra Limited ,,, have it drive the fairing speakers and let the rears run off the stock radio power ,,,,,,
always remember two things that apply here ,,,,,,
1 ,,,, at 75 mph on the highway, you are going to hear what is in front of you a whole lot better than what is behind you ,,,,,
2 ,,,, you will get the most bang for the buck by amplifying the fairing speakers first, before worrying about the ones in the rear pod, as the fairing is the second best acoustical environment on the Ultra ,,,,,,,
certainly DO shop around for the J&M amplifier kits and also remember that the J&M amplifier kits are complete plug-n-play systems, with specific mounting brackets, custom wiring harnesses etc, and that is what makes them a little more expensive to buy than others ,,,,,
