thanks! just now realized heritage bars and heritage style bars are 2 different animals. now i wonder if stock heritage bars will fit the 07 and earlier RKs?
Yes they will. I have the 09 and up heritage bars on my 06 FLHR.
The 09 and up Heritage Bars are not the same as the older Heritage Bars. The older Heritage Bars, from what I've seen, are very similar to the new "style" bars like most of us are talking about. The new Heritage Bars do not come notched, so that has to be done for them to work on the bikes with TBW. And that gets expensive if you have to have a dealer do it. Around here, they want around $1,400.00 for bars, and labor.
Okay. So how about someone who lives near me and has the bars holler me up. I'll buy you a beer if I can just sit on your rk for a couple of minutes. Been thinking about this swap for awhile (and a new set of grips) but really want to 'feel' it for myself before I do it. I really hate to try something and find out I don't like it.
I don't live close enough to make one beer worthwhile, but, for free I'll post a couple of pics so you can see the difference for me. I'm 5'11" with 33" inseam.
Stock bars. Note shoulder position and back position just to reach them.

Yes they do. I am using some stock heritage bars from 03 on my 2005 road king. The pre tbw models are very easy to swap over.
I talked to our dealer last week about this and made an appointment to have the bars installed this week. the dealer is gonna charge 1 1/2 hrs (120.00) I figure I would mess up more than that... Gonna drop it off Thursday and pick it up Friday! Thanks for the pictures for comparison!
Put the Heritage style on my '12 RK a few weeks ago and man what a difference.Changed the grips also and was finished right at 3hrs using the service manual and being careful not to break anything.
Best mod so far as for comfort.
