I am dealing with a dealer in the KC area, in regards to the purchase of an 05 Electra Glide Classic.For the most part, it is bone stock, with 22,000 miles. It has AM/FM/CD, and a few chrome add ons, but nothing outstanding (ie big bore kit, etc)
They are asking $15,900.00 for it. My trade is a 93 FLHS (Electra Glide Sport), that I HAVE to geta minimum of $7500.00 for.
Two questions: Am I out of line wanting $7500.00 for my bike, and
#2: Is $15900.00 a decent price for the new (er) ride?
Kelly Blue Book shows the '05 EGC as follows:
retail = $15,750
trade-in = $11,14
your '94 FLHS as follows:
retail = $8,975
trade-in = $6,045
take it for what it since it is just KBB numbers, I would do some research on the net to see what both bikes are selling for, but remember you will not get retail as a trade-in. Good Luck with the stealer.
Well, THEY thought I was out of line for wanting $7500.00 They quoted NADAs average retail of $6517.00 and offered me $4500.00 (This is a bike that I paid $9500.00 for at an HD Dealer last spring, and at that time the retail was listed at $9500.00).
Kelley Blue Book lists retail on my bike at $8975.00 and trade in as $6045.00. It would appear that they use the LOWER quoted value when offering trades. It would be interesting to see which quoted value they use when SELLING a trade.
At the same time, the bike they are selling, an 05 Electra Glide Classic, lists for (NADA) $16291.00 and (Blue Book) $15750.00. Seems they are SPLITING difference between the two on their selling price, as they want $15,900.00
Pizzes me off, that on THEIR bike they will split the diff between NADA and Blue Book, but on MY TRADE, they go with the LOWER listed value.
Didn't do it. They were going off of NADA on MY bike, and wanting Kelley on THEIR bike.To clear up what I mean, NADA on my bike was 4500. Kelley on my bike was 6800. They ofered me 4500 on a bike that I paid 9500 for 8 months ago.
NADA on THEIRS was 15,800. Kelley was 16,200 and they wanted 17,200.
Found out that I can go to my local Dealer, and get an 07 POE for 2k under MSRP. Why buy a 2 yr old bike for 17200 when I can get a brand new one for 18,500??
Run away when dealing with any of the dealers in KC. Just noticed you were in Topeka, I'm pretty sure you have a much better dealer there already.
I honestly figured that I would get a better deal in KC, given the fact that they have a MUCH larger market than Topeka.
I was floored to find out that they were using both NADA and Kelly when setting value. While Topeka will rarely give any kind of discount (MSRP is the norm), they offered me 6400 on my bike w/o even seeing it. Of course, I was dealing with the same salesman that I bought it from last April.
What I found comical about BS HD, was the fact that they introduce you to the staff...such as the parts guy.....who immediately sat down with the HD Catalog, and starting showing me all the chrome, etc. I was thinking: I have a friggin catalog at home dude....I don't need YOU to try to talk me into more stuff now.....ESPECIALLY after your sales manager tried to break it off in my azz.
The stealer wasn't trying to do me an favors, THATS for sure. I am just gonna keep what I have til next spring, when the 100th Anniversary POE bikes come out.
