Caveat emptor: Don't get the laced wheels! On my '12 Heritage, the rear spokes needed to be tightened at the 1,000 mile service. I didn't consider this a big deal until all of them loosened up again 200 miles later. I am replacing them with mags. Others have reported this defect on the Softail forum.
I ordered a 2013 Street Glide also and I have ordered chrome wheels from ***** Shiny to replace the factory wheels. I ordered a few other shiny parts also.
Man, you really screwed up big time!!! You should have gotten a Road Glide! The Street Glide is so last year!! Just jerkin your chain. Congrats on the new bike and thanks for your service!
I guess the real question is if anybody can confirm that a Chrome Spoke wheel is what they are refering to. I'm overseas and can't go in to talk to a dealer/see a bike with the optional wheels. If its just chrome spokes, I would rather have the stock black wheel (I think it would look better with the black denim).
It's the "Tubeless Chrome Aluminum Profile Laced" wheel. In other words its a chrome spoked wheel. It is NOT an Agitator or chromed slotted 5 spoke.
If it where me, I'd save my money for something better looking than the spoked wheel.
Congratz on the new bike! I have the same ride, 2012. Originally, the plan was to get the stock off of there and perhaps a Ride Wright or DNA, but the more I sat with it, the more I like the stock. It just works with the denim. So I'm glad I waited it out a bit. I'd marinate and if you want to switch, you can do it at 1000 mi. Just my 2 cents.
i almost got the smooth laced wheels, but backed out and stuck with the stock ones. There are some harley dealerships that offer the stock black wheels in full chrome, so that may have been what you ordered (which do look good).
I just completed the paperwork on a 2013 SG in Black Denim but got a question. I have ordered the ABS/Security option, Cruise Control and the optional Chrome Aluminum Wheels. I like the lookof the stock wheels with the black, so is it worth the $500 for the Chrome Wheels? In my mind as I was checking the box, I was picturing the CVO Agitator Wheels, but the pictures I can find on line show only Chrome Spoke Wheels. If thats all it is, then I would rather save for a better set later. What say you? I have to get them an answer soon, before payment.
I have a amber red sunglo 2012 Street Glide, I just finished polishing the rim of the wheel (not clear coated from factory) they shine almost as much as chrome. not alot of work, I'm. 61 with bad back, it was fairly easy. Variable speed drill with some polishing wheels and elbow grease.
I wouldn't do it. I think the stock black rim looks great with the Black Denim paint.
and I would wait and spend the $500 on rims I would actually like better.
