Just traded my 2002 Road King for a 2012 Street Glide and can not believe the difference!! Got back from a highway ride with friends tonight and had the new bike up to 95 mph, didn't even realize I was going that fast, bike was sooo smooth. Put the 7 inch wind splitter on last night which took care of any buffeting issues. I am so damn impressed with this bike! I picked up the Glide on Saturday and tonight was my first chance to get it out on the highway. After a highway ride on the Road King I had so much fatigue, the Street Glide was perfect and totally comfortable. Wish I had made the change years ago, but then I wouldn't have the 103. Just wanted to share my experience.
After several miles and years on Goldwings I thought (from what I had been led to believe) that I would be taking a big step backwards in ride quality. That is just not true and the 103's run stronger than I expected.
Harley has made quite a few changes in the engine and frame over the past 10 years, the ride and power are better, let's see how the dependability goes. So far really good for me.

There is a HUGE difference between the '02 RK 88ci and the '09 and up frame with either the 96 or 103ci motor. I traded my '04 EG Ultra for a '12 RGU, and was blown away by many of the same things that you were with the new big touring platform. I'm no stranger to the 103, though. I've been riding an '08 FLHTP for nearly 4 years now, and know what great motor it is. But the '08 is the previous generation frame, and the '12 RGU is far better in terms of ride and handling. I have some concerns about the bearing issues, so I bought a 6 year ext warranty.
Enjoy your new SG! May you have many miles of safe and trouble free riding.
