Have you looked at e=bay for a pair of boots that h/d sold a couple of years ago called brown pulse. Yes I know they are brown, but they are a no nonsense lace up boot with no bells or whistles. and black polish cures the brown color. I got a pair at a dealership last spring and I love them so much I bought a second pair off of e/bay. now if your in zippers and buckles you would not like them. they are almost a plain workboot except for the h/d logh on the sole. my 2 cents.
Bought a pair of engineer boots from Cruiserworks. Best boots I've ever owned. Comfortable, waterproof with protected toe and ankle. You can actually walk in these boots. Check out their site. You won't be sorry. http://www.cruiserworks.com
I'm a lineman, so I own several lineman/logger style boots, redwing, worx, chip.etc, all ok to ride in,
made in usa,, BUT,,, when we go away ,weekend rallys,, the boots get to hot and to heavy to walk around in all weekend,so... food for thought, something to keep in mind if your a rallier
I bought a pair of the Milwaukee Classics last Summer. The zipper broke on one of them and I took them back. The guy told me he's seen a few people come back because of the broken zipper. He took my boots for a couple days, hadbetter zippers installed and I haven't had a problem since.
for what's it's worth. I found a retail dealer for the milwaukee Engineer type boots "Union Station"and found they had zero rear heel cup, i.e..nothing to keep the boot from sliding up and down on the heel of the foot. to say the least I was dissappointed beacause I really liked the looks of the boot. yeah, I know some heel climb is to be expected from any engineer type boot, but these just didn't work for me.
