Default Heated Grips

I just got a call from the Dealer. Said my Heated Grips are burned out. Won't warrantee. Said most folks only use them periodically. Not meant for continuous use. [sm=WTFsgign.gif]I ride 30K + each year. That's crap. $400 of part time warmth. Dealer said I should wear heated gloves. I say too much trouble. Besides I don’t like being wired to my HOG.

Although the Heated Grips only warm the insides (palms) I was comfortable in less than 20 deg.

Dealer also said kuryakyn grips were worse than MOCO.

I’m thinking I do without since they also went out on my 06 CVO but were replaced under warrantee.

Anyone know of a reliable heated grip; one that can remain on for long all day rides.

I would ask the dealer to either show me where it specifically says that the warmers have a limited-use warranty - or cover them. I'd also insist on speaking with a factory rep.

My dealer is replacing my faulty ones under warranty. They're always on, won't turn off.

Had mine for 3 years. If yours are still under warranty, they should replace them. Hold their feet to the fire. Only other bikes I had heated grips on were BMW.....always worked.

I saw a statement at my dealer on the counter about extending the warranty on heated grips and that the grip with the control module was available seperate. Call around to other dealers.

Mine were replaced once on warranty.
I use 'em A LOT. This pair is about to go into a third riding season.
Did yourssurvive the warranty period?

I had the grips less than a year. No waranty because I bought them OTC and installed them myself.

I ride 30K+ each year and during the winter I could be on the road with grips on 4-5 for 10 hours or more.

Appreciate all ithe advice

HotGrips! I know they are a little work to install but they have been on 3 of my bikes and not one failed. One set has been on the bike through 7 winters.

If they should be covered under warranty, I would ask to see any material that shows the designed duty-cycle of the heated grips. If it is not stated as something lesssthan 100% or less than your usage they should be covered. Ask for something in writing showing the designed duty-cycle.
