You are very lucky. I've known two people that that have been killed from broken ribs. Other than that they had only minor injuries. Enjoy every day.

Sorry that had to happen to you but glad you came through it so well. That is a good lesson for all of us. Things happen all too fast out there and it is too easy to be distracted. Heal up fast!

Wow, glad to hear that you are recovering and here to share the story. I think it is amazing that you got back on the bike with conviction to ride the dragon. I know for a fact I couldn't of done that as I would have been to shaken and worried with every tight corner on the dragon.
Here's to a speedy and healthy recovery and of course your next RIDE!

Wow, broken ribs and a colapsed lung...what do they do for that? Does the lung just recover on it's own? I've had fractured ribs and all they did was wrap me up and tell me to go easy. Do they have to do anything special for broken ribs?

Well, that made for a memorable ride I'll bet. Glad your on the mend and well enough to tell the story.

Get well soon!

They don't do anything for the ribs - they heal on their own. They put a chest tube in so the air from the punctured lung could escape from the chest cavity. Then the lung re-inflates and quickly heals.
