When my new Ultra Classic arrives I will install touring pipes. I had planned to go with Vance & Hines, as I like them on my Wide Glide, but I have been told that Screaming Eagle touring pipes perform better. Any thoughts?
I stand by Vance and Hines Oval Slip-Ons. They look great, and sound better and the stainless steel gives me the sense of security I look for in a muffler. Shop around and you can't go wrong with Vance and Hines...exhaust is all they do...and they do it awesome.
There are some great quality aftermarket exhaust systems available for the HD. So many in fact it makes deciding on which to buy confusing sometimes. Anyway, I took my Hooker Tuned Flow slip ons off and replaced them with HD SE slash up slip ons. I had no problems with the Hooker mufflers, except for the constant poping on decleration. In fact I like the deeper tone at idle and on acceleration better than the SE mufflers. But, because I had the dealer preform the stage one FI remap, instead of installing a Power Commander, the SE pipes seem to make the bike run better. I'm sure the fuel map was lean due to the Hookers having less back preasure than the SE mufflers. I also decided I wanted to keep the bike all HD.
For info the "Like new" Hookers are for sale with only 1000 miles on them.
