primary squeal help
primary squeal help
2008 street Glide. replaced with SE Compensator 10,000 mi ago. Primary squeal off and on. headlight dims volt gauge drops. Checked compensator, stator, took primary apart. Bolt was tight Removed SE compensator, all looked good ? Saw no rub marks.Any ideas on this. Maybe Volt reg going bad making stator howl?

it could be a wire shorting to the frame somewhere...when the current flows to the frame (ground) it will cause the stator to work its *** off to bring the voltage back up....if its just a partial short, that doesn't have a real good connection to the ground it won't blow fuse or burn the wire up I would check where the stator wires leave the engine and where they plug into the regulator first...
