Default Check Engine Light

OK all bear with me here. I took the bike to the dealer a while ago for some minor issues; leaks, broken motor mount, etc. Well since the bike has been back in my possession I broke an exhaust stud and now my check engine light comes on when I go to start the bike and stays on for a few seconds. I do have a PCIII, but have not read the code yet. Does the PCIII cause a code?

The tuner shouldn't be throwing any codes...it's just controlling bike ops/settings, based on configuration. You'll need to check the code to pinpoint what's possibly causing any issues...

Will my PCIII run codes or do I need to take it the shop? I thought there was a way to count how long it stays on or if it flashes or something? Was there something like that or am I losing it? Thanks.

I don't think the PCIII will read codes IIRC, I think you'll need some kind of scan tool. I could be wrong though. I have the PC III on my bike, but I've never tried to get codes out of it

You read codes from the speedo/odo, not the PCIII. If the engine light is only on for a few seconds there probably isn't a problem. It's just doin' it's startup check.

I agree that it seems normal. Both my EGC and my Ford Escape have the engine lights come on upon startup. They cycle through their diagnostics, then turn off. Don't see a problem.

There are many topics on here to pull codes Is the light on just at start up and then goes off (thats normal) or it comes on while riding. Power commander will not throw codes.
