Really like it.......but it does reduce the effective lift hight by the depth of the pit. I'm tall and have a bad back. Not trying to take away from a very clean install Great Job!

Thank you for making me feel better! I just got a Handy B.O.B. 1500lb air lift that raises up to 40 inches. Very nice for my bad back. Sinking it in the floor wouldn't be an improvement for me. Very cool idea though and a nice job by the O.P.!
It did lower the ramp by 7".But it's still better than having the ramp in the way all the time or tucked into a corner where stuff will just end up piling on it.This way,it's in an ideal location and you don't even notice it till you need it.It still lifts 25" so it's higher than my portable lift and at the ideal height for maintenance for me.
Sweet setup, and I am betting that you will soon be the most popular guy in the local biker community! Friends will come out of the wood work to use your lift - which is just another bonus. Cheers.
My garage floor is stamped with a CAUTION to not drill or cut due to embedded high tension cables. I thought they were for earthquakes but this here says its due to the soil...

Why do homes have these cables? - Southern California has native soils with a high percentage of clay content in some regions. These clays expand when they become moist and contract when they lose moisture. Many times the clay soils under the middle of a home are moist, but the clay soils on the perimeter of a home become dehydrated. The perimeter area contracts and the middle area remains swollen or expanded. This creates an elevation differential between the two areas that puts stress on the slab. The resultant stress can be enormous, causing the slab to crack. Structural engineers design the slabs with post tension cables in an effort to make the slab act monolithically to counter the point loads created by the differential. This design can save your slab. Post tension cable slabs are extremely beneficial to help combat the effects of our soil conditions in Southern California.
Cutting cables The cables installed are usually pulled so they each have approximately 28,500 lbs. of tension. The released tension will find the path of least resistance. A very loud noise similar to thunder usually occurs if the cables are cut while coring or saw cutting a slab. Experienced saw cutters will know immediately something has happened. Many factors can influence what will actually occur. Some cables just retract back into the slab towards the perimeters of the home. Some cables retract and protrude out of the slab on the side of the house. These types of cable cuts are relatively easy to repair.
Other times the cables pop up above the concrete in several places in a sort of ripple effect along a line towards the perimeter of the home. This obviously destroys the concrete and flooring and can be quite expensive to repair. Injury can occur if someone is standing on top of the cable when it releases.
