I'm really not complaining, I love my Rineharts on my Ultra, but....
I was recently on a trip up through Quebec down through New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia (I highly recommend it)...
Anyway, two days into the trip, my Ultra started to make an exhaust leak sound and my wife was smelling fumes. I couldn't tell what the problem was, I thought maybe the header nuts were loose or something. We traveled in the rain and there was a lot of road work and mud.
When we stopped, we took them over to a car wash and I discovered the problem.

Where the rear pipe is attached to the transmission for support, there is an "L" bracket. Apparently the shock of the rough road or something made it so weak to the point where the entire weld on the pipe side broke through and was up into the exhaust pipe about 1/4"!!!!. So there I was travelling with a 1" round hole in my pipe with lots of miles to go![:@]
I called ahead to JH Stewart Harley in New Brunswick and they took me as soon as I got there, pulled the pipe off and re-welded it. Probably better than new.
Needless to say, I was a little disappointed in BUB. Only had the pipes 10 months and their warranty is only 90 days.
The same happened to my cousin. It is a BUB/Rhinehart factory defect. They acknowledge it and make it right by replacing it...at least that is what the local Dealership told us. My cousin welded his also, probably saves time.........
I talked w/ 4 Dealers and they all warned me about the mounting bracket problem. One told me that the problem may have been corrected, but they were not aware of it yet. Another told me that they were not even going to install them until the issue was corrected. Even though BUB/Rhinehart stands by it and corrects the problem I didn't want to take the chance......I don't like downtime unless it is planned and decided to go with Hooker Headers Tuned Flow mufflers and V&H true dual headers.
I personally know 2 guys with Rhineharts and 1 had the problem within 6 months and the other has yet to have any issues in a little over a year.................I was leaning towards Hooker Headers anyway, but I definitley let the horror stories get to me!!
I just ordered the Rineharts True Duals and then heard about the problem...so I called them and they said they have corrected the problem. The newer pipes, manufactured within the last month or so, will no longer have the problem (according to their tech support). I am hoping so cuz I don't need any problems after spending the bucks. Love the Rineharts tho'....
JUst got off the phone with Bub. I hae a 95 Ultra with the true duals. Told them that mine broke where the bracket was located. They asked for a copy of my receipt and told me that they would be sending me a new pipe. Said they were aware of the probelm and that they had fixed it by moving the bracket mount. Very pleasant folks to deal with. Did I mention that the replacement was gratis, free, no cost, no dinero, zippo, complimentary? It was !
I ordered a set TODAY...noone mentioned this until after I put out $590...[:@]
Hope mine hold up!

Other than the "Golding" post of the pipes- any negatives on the Rineharts?
BRUCE
I won't recommend them at my store, due to instances of poor welding. Cracks appeared shortly after installation on 2 pairs we sold.
Sent 'em back to Parts Unlimited, and installed V & H. I seldom have problems with V & H products.
Rineharts are made by BUB Enterprises, and we have also had issues with some of their other products.
