Default Reckless Fairing Info Needed

The wife finally decided she wants a fairing on her '07 RK Custom. I'm pretty much set on a Reckless Fairing (price and quality). The questions is: Has any one bought one and installed their own radio and speakers? I will probably call them this week but want to know 1) are the cutout already there, and 2) how are the radios supported? I already have a Biketronics setup (radio, speakers, and amp) that I'll put in. Looking for two 6.5 speakers (would rather have 5.25") to keep the weight down for her. Any info is appreciated, she doesn't like the looks of Dead Center, and Drangonfly's way too expensive so pretty much set on Reckless (unless I can get one used). Thanks

Small world, friend (manager from work) has one on his Heritage. He lives in Marysville, had it painted to match his bike. Looked nice, the radio/i-pod player was the one thing I liked about his. I can ask him your question, haven't seen him in awhile though.

I put a reckless on my buddy's Rk custom and he went with the 6x9 model with a Sony radio we had to take a piece of metal bent in an L shape to support back of radio . I epoxied it to the fairing and that's was about it . With the radio powering a set of Polk audio 6x9 it sounds almost better than my 6.5 Polk being powered by a pbr 300x4 . It's a good fairing for the cash spent I wouldn't put it on a show bike but an everyday riding bike no problem . Hope this helps

I am in the process of installing mine now......decent product....bought the 6x9 model and had to open up the speaker hole about a 1/4"...not a big deal.

Bought a waterproof enclosure for the radio and had to cut the hole bigger for that too....not much room for error there...

The biggest pain in the *** was cutting and grinding the "universal " mounting brackets to make it look decent on the bike....installed as they came the fairing sit about 4" above the headlight and looked terrible...also tipped forward a bit...

After a few hours of tweeking and taking it on and off 300 times I got right...at least right for me. Gotta final grind and sand the brackets a bit more then send them to powdercoat.

The stereo enclosure has a small built in shelf that I will extend with a thin, lightweight piece of plate aluminum and use a bent "L" bracket as stated before. I am going to drill a hole and bolt the bracket to my fairing with a rubber grommet for stability. With the extra support I think the RF PBR 300x2 will ride nicely on the top of the radio and shouldnt be a problem.

I will post a detailed install thread regarding my Reckless fairing....my likes and dislikes and any problems have had once its done....buy one I think you will be happy....but my advice, buy a 6x9 set up...more bang for the audio buck.
