Should I be worried about internal swing arm rust?
I notice a rust stain on the concrete pad where I park my 2010 RKC. It's under the belt side of the swing arm toward the front. I've seen some threads about rusting from inside the swing arm and how there's a drain hole in this area.
How much should I be worried about this? I had a 1983 XR1000 with a rusted out frame (from the inside). You could push a hole through the steel with your fingernail eventually. Right dead at the bottom where the water laid. Is that the future for my RK? Is there anything I could/should do to add some corrosion protection?
It's already parked under a roof. I think the water comes from washing it. You'd think HD would have some kind of paint inside but there must be some bare steel with the rust leaking out.
