Default SE back plate fitting problem ??

Hi All,
Just trying to fit the SE air cleaner backing plate (29260-08) to my 2012 ultra and have a problem.
After taking off the original parts i am left with a black plate that holds a couple of plugs. Problem is, this plate is restricting the proper fitting of the backing plate as there is a gap between the throttle body and the backing plate. - see photo.

Are you supposed to remove this bracket ? - it does not say so in the instructions.

Thaks everyone.

It looks like the plate needs to fit tight against the head. Are you able to remove the gizmo behind it .....instructions dont say anything does it?

Yes the instructions say to remove and discard bracket. We have got around this by just cutting off the 2 outside tabs and leaving the bracket to hold the wires. Most air cleaner assemblies tell you to remove this bracket. Reason it is there is because the factory air cleaner is plastic where the SE air cleaner is metal and will hold the throttle body in place.

yes the plate has to come off, that's one of the reason's i went with A/N Big sucker. you don't have to remove the plate. just bolt it on and your good to go.

Actually it does tell you to remove it
Item 4 on the first page of the instructions have the following!

4. See Figure 1 and Table 1. Remove and discard support
induction module bracket (C).

Default SE A/C fitting problem

Pretty sure there's a gasket that goes between the backing plate and the throttle body. If I remember it was at least 1/8" thick..That should close the "gap" between the two. And yes- the bracket held on with two screws has to come off, and the things that were cliped to it just zip-tied out of the way..
Just my .02cents..

Hi All,
