I bought the black version of that one two weeks ago. After calling a couple of dealers and confirming I had the right part, I proceeded with the install.
You have to remove the stock trim ring and replace with this one. I had to bend the wire spring a little to get it on and I also used a screw with a smaller head so it would look a little better. The ones that came with it didn't look right at the angle that it had to go into the bottom.
But, overall it looks good. It fits tight with no gaps and it was a good price.
I saw this new headlight ring and it has not split at the bottom. Wondering how or if this would work for fairing mounted headlights. I requested more info from the seller as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/300725673903...84.m1952.l2649
If it's one piece, how does it attach to the back plate?
I have the HD one and I have no gap at the bottom.

It's the seam they're talking about, I have the same HD one that you do and there's no gap when it's tightened, but it has that seam at the bottom. The CC version doesn't have that. Also the HD version goes over the stock headlight trim ring whereas the CC one replaces the stock trim ring. It attaches the same way the stock trim ring does- there's a spring clip at the top and a single fastener at the bottom.
Well, I just called their store and they said it works on my bike. I also have a e-bay message stating the same. So I bought it just now. When I install the unit I will take a pic and report same. In about a week :
Got mine in and installed tonight. as mentioned before, remove the stock trim ring, put this one on the same as the stock one! Simple, no seam at the bottom. It does look like it is not as deep as the HD version, BUT I think this one looks more like it was made for the bike, not some afterthought. I will try and take some pics in the daylight. It was too late tonight and you really cant see it too well.
