Default Adjustable or not?

I am looking into getting some batwing air deflectors and fork baffle. I am wondering if there is any big difference to getting the fixed or adjustable. I live in the northeast so it does not get that hot up here. I would rather spend 40 bucks not 100. Thanks for the input.

I don't open mine unless it's really hot because when there open it causes more wind noise that bothers my ears (no helmet) but the difference is very noticeable.

I look at the air management thing differently than most riders- that probably means I am wrong.

The bigger the hole you try to punch through the air ( the larger the profile of the fairing/windscreen/ deflectors etc.- then the larger the low pressure zone in the cockpit.

air rushes in from the sides and below to fill that zone- and this is the "buffeting" that some riders find annoying.

I use the adjustable fairing deflectors to direct controlled air into the cockpit- this helps to decrease the pressure differential- and less air wooshes in from the sides and below.

some riders are trying to find still air- they won't until they end up in an enclosed box.

I try to find ways to work with the air to give a comfortable ride.

Agree w/mkguitar...I went w/adjustable wings so you can adjust accordingly. Also, added lowers, fork baffle + taller shield. Between all four accessories/upgrades, my FLHX is pretty comfy...good luck!

You can see in this photo my wind deflectors on each side of the faring. In hot weather, I keep them adjusted as you see them to force air into the cockpit area for cooling. I close them in the winter and when temps are below 55. They work well for me.

Adjustable, that way you have something to adjust. Duh. Really, I do direct the air when it gets hot and close them when it isn't.

I love the adjustable wings. I found that riding in winter, you can actually flip them around backwards, almost completely, the negative pressure pulls a little of the engine heat up towards you. Otherwise, normally tilt and adjust to direct air flow on you. sometimes it's like riding in a convection oven, but still a good option to have.

Installed the fork baffle and the adjustable wind deflectors. What a difference, I'm pumped about the ride now.

The adjustable deflectors mount with 4 bolts to the fairing, the non adjustable ones use 3 bolts to mount to the fairing, they are not interchangeable.

The OP has no choice but to get the adjustable ones (if getting them from HD) as a 2010 FLHX uses the 4 bolt mounting system.

I am not sure if 4 bolt non adjustable deflectors are available in the aftermarket, at least when I got mine they were not.
