Just got pulled over for pressing the speed limit just a tad. The Troop asked why I was speeding. My answer "It is sunny, there is no traffic, and I am riding within my limits" Didn't fly and now I have to drop a large amount of coinage to the county. I was just curious what your best excuse was, and did it work?
Way to many officers in here to ask that one, now your going to give away all your excuses.
but I have heard just about them all... I don't set a limit before I pull you over. one day it could be 2mph over and the next I wont stop you till your 15 over... just my mood for the day...
all I say is DO NOT BE AN *** when I walk up and 95% of the time you leave with a warning
Best excuse is tosay NOTHING. Tell the officer that you belive you were operating within the speed limits. The burden of proof is on him, and offering an excuse is practically admitting guilt.
Just how much within youre limits but out of the Laws awere you going? In Georgia a state trooper wont even bother you till you get 10 over. And No generic excuse works that I know of, its all in your attitude and the LEO's mood and the situation youre involved in.
Haven't been stopped on the bike yet and haven't been stoppedin 15 years in the car; and I speed all the time. But before this Igot my share of speeding tickets. Ijust threw myslef at the mercy of theofficer.Denying it, claimingignorance or somelame azz excuse just tends to annoy them.
It's all in the attitude. If they sense you're a wise a$$ you're getting a ticket. If they are set on giving you a ticket I try to talk them into giving me a ticket that's not going to cost me points. Haven't been pulled over on my bike for speeding but in the car I have been able to switch a speeding ticket for a seatbelt ticket. I'm more concern about my insurance going up; here in the northeast it's expensive.
I just say sorry and take my lumps. If I was speeding I was speeding, end of story. I've actally been told to just be more careful next time and sent off without a ticket - only once out of the 4 stops though.
You're supposed to tell them, "Sorry you had to chase me so far and I was going so fast, butmy 'ole lady ran off and leftme for a cop and I thought you might be bringing her back."
No excuse. I was stopped in AZ and the first thing he asked was if I was armed (huh?). He told me I exceeded the lawful limit in a zone designated for higher enforcement effort because speed was a problem in this area. I told him I was seperated from my group at a light and didn't where I was or where I was headedand I was hoping to I might see them in the distance. He could see I was from out of state so instead of speeding ticket with a hefty fine I was cited for "Wasting finite resources" with a $25 fine.
I thanked him and then he gave me directions to the Interstate.
I was cited for "Wasting finite resources" with a $25 fine.
[sm=WTFsgign.gif]why bother?
I got pulled once for 65 in a 45, swear I didn't see the "reduce speed sign"...trooper saved my azz by writing me a "Failure to obey traffic control device" (speed limit sign) and instead of speeding/wreckless driving it was about $35. All in all, it seems (IMO) like the state guys are a little more reasonable than locals on speeding tickets.
