Not sure what chock you are using but mine raises the front about an inch. drain plug is in the front so you may have to level the bike to get it all out...

There is over a quart of oil in your sump... that doesn't get drained out.. the only way to get all the oil in your system is to use a scavenger system..... google it and look at the video... engine oil is never completely clean until you get that sump drained out.

Yeah checked oil hot and on jiffy stand. I just wanted to make sure it was normal wth 3 qts because the manual said 3.5 then check but I knew better.lol. probably explains why everytime the dealer serviced my other bikes they always came back overfull and I had to drain oil out! I might do the baker this winter I like the idea. Thanks for the reply guys I feel better now.

That's all that my 2012 took on my first oil change. I'm sure glad that I stopped and checked before I added more. Even though I have 500 miles on it, it still is almost full.

Putting oil in the filter before installing isn't necessary.
Not true, if you put the oil filter on dry the engine is starved for oil for a few seconds, not good in my book. Same with cars, always fill at least half way, then put on. JM2C

Does the oil filter come before or after the oil pump ?

"Charging" your filters is a good practice & for OP (didn't see, but maybe I missed) - did you warm-up bike before draining oil??
