Just traded the wide glide for a street glide. Got a lot of great info on this forum and look forward to a lot more. A little concerned about the weight difference, any advice? What was your first mods? Got the stage one and pipes from the dealer.

Congrats on the new Street Glide.

First mod for me was a KlockWerks windshield. Then Custom Dynamics Plasma Rods for extra brake lights.

Should have everything for my full stage one buy the end of the week.

Practice riding slow, watch the "ride like a pro video".
My last mod was the Balance Masters for the primary and the clutch.

I came from riding sport bikes for decades (Buells, Sportsters, Ninja, etc.) I was a little concerned about the weight myself, but I was surprised to find my SG much easier to handle than I expected. I'm 5'-8" so can't get both feet flat, but I've had many other bikes that I couldn't either (including the Buells) and the SG is no harder to keep balanced than the others. I just love the thing, if I had known they were this much fun I would have gotten one a loooong time ago As for mod's, that's really personal preference. Read up on threads here, just about any mod you can imagine has been covered, there's a wealth of info. Personally the first thing to go on mine was the stock pipes and windshield (I bought it with a detachable tour pack, highway pegs and separate backrest so those were covered), then came fork deflectors to stop the buffeting, then HD Dark Custom covers, then a larger 2012 front wheel, then intake & tune, black Linbar, black LED headlight, lots of little cosmetic stuff like plug wires, contrast cut saddlebag latches & smoked lenses, now upgraded speakers/ amp are waiting to be installed. A C&C seat will be next. After that probably Ohlins shocks and a painted inner fairing. It's really up to you, every single person here has followed a different and unique mod path. The sky is the limit

Congrats on the new bike. I wouldn't worry about the weight difference, you'll do just fine.

Congrats - did you go new, or used? Either way - great bike & you'll learn to love all the creature comforts of these so called "geezer glides."

If you completed stage-1 then rack some miles...the mods will come to you over time & it's never ending. Ride safe!

Welcome to the bagger world bud. Enjoy. Don't think you will even notice the weight difference, as long as u keep it upright at stops. May I suggest a PC-V and have a reputable tech dyno her. I noticed considerable more off the line...if that's what u r looking for. I ride a 2010 SG and love it. Again ...enjoy..and speed safely !
