Default Jetting question

I'm installing some 4" extension bags on my 06 SG. It has Samson ovals on it right now and they won't clear the bags. The bike has a forcewinder intake and stage 1 kit already. I plan on going to a 4" round slip-on but am wondering if I'll have to rejet the carb? Can I just swap the slip-ons and not worry about it?

Are you sure that you have a carburetor on your 06 Street Glide???

I sure am. Cold mornings require the choke **** (on the left hand side of the motor - in front of the gas tank valve) to be pulled out a little. I found out that in 06 you could get a SG with either carbs or FI. Not sure if it's related to productions dates or options but my brother in-law had an 06 SG that was FI, he also had cruise where I do not.

O6 Street Glides were 100% fuel injection from the factory, none of them came stock with a carb.....

Either your bike has had a whole lot of work done to it or you are mistaken.

Next - I don't believe there a gas tank valve on any o6 bikes......

I thought the same thing till I looked in the manual. The owners manual has instructions on starting the bike if it has carbs or FI. Take a look at this pic and look to see where the red arrow is pointing. I can't imagine why HD would put a choke **** on a FI bike and have it be functional.

Well, all of the carb models I've ever had I rejetted because they were set up too lean from the factory. Sorry about the question about your carb, I didn't realize that any touring models had them in the last ten years or so. My last carb was in 1995

Don't be sorry, I didn't know either till after reading the manual. The bike doesn't have the quick throttle response like FI but it starts and runs great regardless.

The carbs have been rejetted already for the Samson ovals that were installed, I'm just wondering if I need to rejet the carb again or at least have it looked at. For those who have swapped slip-ons, did you rejet or remap?

You should be fine, 06 was the last year you could get a carbed bike. As far as throttle response a carbed bike if jetted correctly should have better responce than a fi bike. I have a carbed 04 RK and went from Samson ovals to thunderheaders with dual head pipes and only a slight ajustment of the air/fuel screw. My carb was jetted for stage 1 and Samson pipes. I ran a 48 slow, Stock main and a shimmed sporty needle.

Jeeping,

I stand corrected...

Sorry for doubting you. You are 100% correct.

They made them both ways for 2006, who knew?
