Default Cutting rinehart baffles

I found a pair of rinehart 3.5 silpons on craigslist for $80, somebody laid their bike down and scratched them up pretty good but i just blacked them out seeing my bike is blacked out. Anyways I liked the sound but wanted a lil louder and after searching the web I could not really find the answer to my question so I pulled the end caps and found that my baffles were inserted in the end cap and those suckers were 23" long, after compairing baffle lengths I cut them down to 8". Now I am happy they sound good and the best part is the price.....Free.

What end did you cut off...the end up near the header pipe or down near the end cap?

The head pipe side, the end cap side is flared and mine is recessed in the end cap.

That's good to know. I guess the baffle stays pretty tight just in the end cap then? Did you have to attach the other end somehow up inside the muffler to prevent it from coming out of the end cap? I thought about this a few months ago and didn't know how to do it so thanks for the information.

I dont think I will.....the baffles are secured into the end cap, and there was no flange on the header end so the only dynamic that I changed was the length.....
