Default Road King Classic Saddlebag Locks...

Has anyone fitted saddlebag locks to a Road King Classic? If so what type of lock and views on their suitability and ease of installation.

Thanks....

I just don't think this lock will work well for these bags unless it secures the front AND the rear portion of the bag. I never really put valuables in my bags so I don't worry about it.

If theft is an issue where you park your scoot, you can use other deterents such as snakes (rattlers), poison ivy, stickers (HIV +). Or my personal favorite, 9mm Glock.

I am planning on using the ones that Bread linked to. Hey, if they want it bad enogh they'll get it no matter what you do. IMO it's as good as the locks on hard bags and the tour pak.

I am installing the BagGuard locks that I bought on Ebay (the link in Bread's post above). It appears to be good quality but I am having trouble lining up the latch to the lock. I used the supplied templates but they do not line up so I have a couple of small stray holes to deal with later. I have been taping the latch in different positions & using Silly Putty to mark how far to move it but have not been able to find the sweet spot. I think the problem is that the Classic bags are semi-soft and the hinge system is not as rigid as the hard bags. I have to get away from for a while it driving me nuts. Any recomendations?

I have the Aeromach bag locks and on install had a h*** of a time getting the lock to work on the second bag. Yes, I used the templates correctly.
I've had them almost two years now and occasionally the one side fails to lock. (the side I use the most) It happens most often in warmer weather if I've ridden around with them unlocked.
What I've found that works is to simply stretch the bag out in the vicinity of the lock. They lose their shape a little bit and fail to allow the catch to align with the hasp. I wish I was privy to this trick when I installed them in the first place. The first bag took me close to 40 minutes, the 2nd one was done inside of 15, prior to discovering they wouldn't latch. It was no fault of the installation.
If you're confident you installed them as they should be, mess with the shape of the bag a bit.
