Default Fairing Lower/Dealer Replace?

Back in April I bought a EG and about two weeks later I noticed a gap about 3/4" between the lower fairing cap and the fairing body. I emailed the business mgr at the dealer (he sold me the bike) regarding the issue along with some other concerns. He had me come in and we addressed the other concerns, but I forgot about the fairing issue. Well, last weekend I decided to clean the bike and was looking at the fairing cap. I removed the two inner nuts, and when I seperated the cap from the fairing, one of the bolts and the plastic bracket of the fairing fgell out. What happened was that someone had shot some epoxy into the broken fairing bolt retainer and obviously that fix failed. I stopped into the dealer last week and the business manager that sold me the bike was off. So I spoke with the used bike manager and he got an attitude with me saying that he's not replacing it as its not engine/transmission related. I attempted to point out to him that the bike was titled to the dealer, so the dealer was the prior owner. And as such, its obvious that someone in the service department tried to do the cheap fix and get the bike out of the door. At that point the manager said that he would give me 15% off of a new fairing lower cover. That would still cost me over $100!

Any opinions out there? Should I go over his head and speak with the dealer general manager? The more I think about this the more pissed I get. I realize that the dealer is in business to make money, but I emailed two weeks after purchase with a concern of a shoddy repair.

I would talk to the Business Manager that you bought the bike from and see if you can come to a better solution. But be NICE, copping a bad attitude will only cause them to respond with an equivalently bad attitude.
I am sure the sales department had no clue about the substandard repair but if they want to keep you as a customer, they should help you out with more than 15% off. You have to understand their side as well, they get a lot of people trying to get something for nothing. You had the bike for two weeks before you reported the problem.
I know a guy who bought a Harley radio off ebay and installed it himself in his EG Standard. Then when it didn't work right the dealer replaced the radio for free. (bike still had extended warranty).

Well good luck getting it fixed on a used scoot. As is right? Unless you bought the extended warranty.

I did buy the extended warranty.

But my point is that the dealer was the previous owner. And they did the shoddy repair job.

that kinda sucks, but if you get anything more than the 15%, you'll be doing very well. too bad it isn't tequila sunrise/orange 2 tone, that one is only $52.00 cheaper than the unpainted......

make a deal with them, they supply the part, and you'll supply the labor to put it on

That's my intention all along....even if they find a used part that matches colorwise. At this point I have one bolt holding that lower fairing on in addition to the lower mounting point.

How do you know it was the dealer and not the guy that traded it in.

+1. That is not even a temporary fix. Take what they offered and be happy. I doubt the dealership had prior knowledge of the problem.
