Default RK Custom Handle Bars

I have an 06RK Classic. I hate the bars, like everyone else. I sat on a RK Custom yesterday and the bars felt good, I like the amount of pullback. Has anyone else changed to these bars? Do they look ok with a windshield?I am also looking at the Chubby 504's, but I don't know anyone with them on their bike. I would like to at least see how they feel before I buy them. Any opinions?
Thanks

I have a RK Custom and the bars are real comfortable for me. With these bars it seems like most people either love em or hate em. With any bars, stock out of the show room the angle might not be right for the specific rider. Sometimes a small adjustment up or down cam make the difference.
Hit a dealer and sit on a RK Custom.

i'm the opposite, i hated the bars on my 07 custom. the angle was all wrong, hurt my wrist. plus, it had that boat tiller feel to it, did not have good leverage for countersteering.

a bud hooked me up with a set of flanders mini apes, and i'm happier than a pig in s**t, er slop right now....

rkc06:

I've been riding my 02RKC for two years now with the beach bars that came on it. Back when I was looking for a bike I spent time at the local HD dealer sitting on theRK Custom and at that timethought the bars on it were great...and thebeachbars on my RKC felt somewhat similar to those on the new RK Customs.

Well, for two years I swore that beach bars were the only way to go....that is until last summer when I took the first real long ride on my bike. The beach barskilled my back! By the time I got to my destination and eventually back home the pain in the middle of my back was incredible and it lasted for several days. I'm planning on another summer ride in 2007soI began searching formore comfortable bars.

Over the past few weeks I spentsome time researching this matter hereon the forum and also sent PM's to those who had changed out toChubby's. A lot of themsuggested either the Chubby 508's or 518's for my Road King Classic. I saved some cash and bought the 518's and today the local shop installed them on the bike...WOW!! The Chubby 518's have got to be the most comfortable bars I have ever held. I can't speak for any other of Wild 1's bars but if you are looking for some quality and comfortable bars, do yourself a favor and at least take a look at these. The 518's work wellfor me (I'm 6'3")...and I understand the 508's are best for those people who are less than 6' tall.

The list price at theWild1 web site is about $200 but if you do some shopping (M and MCycles)you can find them for about $50 less. I also changed out to new stainless cables...I don't have any new pictures but I will update my gallery when the snow quits falling around here.

Take care.

I put the Chubby 504 on my Road King Classic and love them. I am 6'3" and the comfort is great.

508s for me. I'm 5'11 and they are a perfect fit.

I find that I am reaching for my classic bars. When I want to sit back in a more comfortable riding position the bars are not back far enough. I'm 6'3" also. I have sat on a custom and they seem to be muchbetter. I am seriously thinking of the swap. I only want to make the change once and its hard to compare other bars that are not on my model of bike.

I also LOVE the RK Custom bars, I have had them on two different bikes now. One thing however, I have them mounted on 4" risers which to me made them WAY more comfortable.

The WildOne 508's are an almost identical bend to the RK Custom bars by the way.
