In February, I bought my 2012 Street Glide. The other day, the sucker died in rush hour traffic on one of the busiest roads in my town. It was 101 degrees, but to die like that just confused me. Went to my HD dealer and found out that the voltage regulators are being recalled. The guys at Colonial Harley Davidson took care of everything and got me back on the road in no time. Just an FYI if any of you are having electrical issues on newer bikes and need a place to start....
I just picked up my 2012 street glide and so far so good. Is there a way to tell if I have a recalled regulator or do I have to wait and have power failure while riding?y buddy picked up his new road glide today and it crapped out on him same day. This sucks.
You don't have to wait. Go to the dealer, they will check the date code on your regulator. If it is in the range, they will replace it if they have one in stock. Had mine replaced Saturday...Tons of info on here about this...

Register your bike (have your VIN handy) on the owners link on H-D.com, it will tell you if your bike is affected
Mine is affected, although I have not had an issue yet. (And have NOT ridden in any hot weather.) I have a date with my dealer for replacement tomorrow. Hopefully it will go another 15 miles!

You just jinxed yourself. You'll make it about 7.5 miles (halfway there) and it'll crap out. Sorry to break the bad news to ya.
Hey, guys, good news! I made the last 15 miles. New regulator installed this morning with a date code of 2412. Service manager said cutoff date was as late as 0912.
