I drain the engine and primary oil on the jiffy. For the tranny,I level the bike with boards under the jiffy.

I'm sure a dealer just places the bike on a table lift and drains everything with bike level.

I changed the crank case oil 3 times before I hit 1200 miles.(100, 500, & 1100)
Is it necessary? Probably not.
I changed the primary out at 700 miles and the tranny out at 500 miles.

It was/is my first NEW bike, so I have been babyin' her, but that is/was my choice.

I use a twenty dollar gizmo from jp cycle with a Puck that replaces the filter and has a hose attached. Drain oil replace plug. Take off the filter and put on the Puck start her up and watch for dirty oil to clear. Shut her down and puut on new filter.

Sounds like the Oil Scavenger that I just bought, but it wasn't $20- it was $100.

Tell us more please. I just went to the J&P website and did a quick search but would like to know more about your procedure.

I've never used one, have over 110,000 miles on my bike and my oil use is still almost nothing over my 5,000 mile oil changes. Obviously then it's not necessary to achieve 6 figures on your odometer. Cute gimmick though.

Save your money.

That has also been my procedure. Getting the filter seems easier that way also.

Draining the trans on the side stand will cause a lot of the fluid to collect between the motor and frame plate. If you drain on the stand, make sure you get all the oil that collects on the top of the frame plate off or it will be dripping down for awhile. If you have a center stand, it's even worse.

Well said - people have been riding Harley's, and everything else with an engine, for millions of miles with just plain old drain and change oil changes.
