Hey y'all long time reader first time poster. I am currently riding an 04 FXDI, I have put alot of work into it making it as comfortable for my wife to tour on as possible, floorboards, mini floorboards for the wife, sundowner 2up, mustang large back pad, etc. Recently we have been doing some 300-400 mile days and we are both beat when we get off the scoot. I think I am ready to move up to a touring bike however, I am not sure which direction to go. I like the road king for the ability to strip it down to a bar hopper with a detachable king tourpack added for her comfort, but I am finding myself wanting the stereo for long rides.... In your honest opinion which way should I be looking, thanks
Just my opinion of course. I traded in my RKC for a Ultra Limited, made the tourpak removable and couldn't be happier. Street Glide look for just kickin around and full blown cruiser when I hit the highway. I dig the music way more that I thought I would.
Good Luck
I concur with fubar55, street glide when you want it in minutes or the tour pack for the long hauls.
All ultras stary out as a road king, you can turn a road king into an ultra bit never an ultra into a king. That was my reasoning ro getting a king. I had a sg but at times didnt want the fairing. That fairing doesnt come off
Another plus of the Ultra, Intercom. My wife and my kids like being able to talk without yelling, though my little one still has the tendancy to yell into the intercom. Music is a defanent plus on a longer ride. Granted both have them, my wife's requirement with the new bike was passenger floor boards.

Sounds like my wife lol... The intercom would be nice I just don't know if I can see myself on a geezer glide at 31 lol
