Default Clutch cable replacement question

Hey All,

I am in the process of putting on my WO575s and I am about to replace my clutch cable. In the manual it says to remove the right side exhaust. just by looking at it, it looks like i can get the tranny cover off without having to remove the exhaust at all, maybe just the heat shield on the y-pipe. am i being delusional?

Yes and no, if you remove the nuts and pull the header away from the area you dont need to completely remove it. While you have it partially out of the way, take the two allen bolts that holds the header bracket out and locktite em real good. If those get loose, youll start losing fluid from the tranny.

Yeah it will be a silver bracket with two allen bolts, where you header rests and bolts to. These are notorious for coming loose and fluid dripping out of. You cant get to em to locktite unless the header is out away from it....great time to do it..

Theres also a great youtube video that shows in pretty good detail the whole clutch cable process which I found a great help when ai get home to my laptop I will look for it and send it to you via a PM. If you dont need it let me know..be real careful with screwing in the new cable into your housing or youll strip the threads and dont overtorque it.....good luck

You don't need to remove any of the exhaust. I used a dremel and cut the short side of the allan wrench a little shorter so it would fit in there. Just loosen the screws and pull them off with the cover. Not enough room to take them out of the cover.

I didn't take mine off but it probably would have been quicker to remove it. The bottom allen bolt seemed like it was 9 miles long and right to the very last thread I had to use the wrench. Have a dremel handy to cut down the allen wrench and a can of brake cleaner to clean up the fluid. Also leave the bike on the stand overnight so most of the fluid drains down into the pan.
