Pay attention people. He's not asking if he should get an ultra, or a chopped tourpak, he's telling you what he wants, and asking how to get it, and you're busy telling him that he should do something different. Why not just try answering his questions and quit trying to talk him into the bike YOU want?
If your not stuck on brand new, watch ebay. They are listed on there almost daily. You have to watch close to get color and style you want, but I bought a real HD one (there are lots of knockoffs) on there few weeks ago that was abs plastic (lots of fiberglass ones on there too), complete tour pak with luggage rack, and mounting hardware shipped for $650

Yep! What he said! I just traded my riding buddy for the king tour pack off his road king, however it was red and my bike is black! No problem I say to my dumb self. Buy the time I had it painted, bought the bracket (already had the docking system) then had the backrest reupholstered, moved the antenna to the fairing, and all the rest I was into some heavy money!!!
But it sure looks good to me!
I agree on the chopped tour pack look with Street Glide. That's what I went with, and for 95% of the time it holds all I ever want or need. For the other 5%, I strap it on the rack. I went new from one of EBay dealers giving 25% off and free shipping. I think it was Chicago HD, but I can't remember for sure. Went with the George Anderson relocation kit to give the wife a little extra wiggle room, and she says that's the best option on the bike!

Just trying to point out options to the dorky looking King tourpak on a SG. If you don't need the extra 4" height and use it mostly for a backrest then.....Ahh. Sorry. Just looked at your pic.
Thanks for all the replies. Big thanks to Journeyman for the parts list. Now to the questions: Why not the ultra? Well I have a friend whose heritage fell off a trailer and totaled it, he purchased an ultra(was talked out of the street glide by the dealership), he has quick detach tour pack and has not had the trunk on yet. Looks good, but you can still tell its an ultra. Its just not what I want. I dont like all the chrome rails and fender chrome, and I like the larger front wheel an the glide. I love the over all look of the Street glide, and the tour pack will only be used on the rare occaision my wife does decide to ride or if I am able to take a week long ride somewhere. As to the king verses the chopped....I am actually not a fan of the chopped. I gues its because I have not seen many around, just does not look like a harley tour pack, kinda looks unfinished. That brings me to my final comment....I bought a Harley, so I could make it what I want. It may be based on other bikes I have seen, but it will be what I want. Right now, I want a street glide that I can turn into a full blown tourer if I need/want to. Again I do appreciate all the comments and suggestions. Everyone be safe riding....there are idiots out there!
