Just got back from a great 1,100 mile ride through the hills of SW Wisconsin.

On the last day I noticed, only at idle, a slight knocking sound from the engine. Not loud but certainly noticable. Kind of like when your car keeps running after you turn it off. Increase the RPM's and it disappears. Bike still performs flawlessly. But certainly it concerns me.

I had the HD hydralic conversion done and new cams. But no other motor work.

Any thoughts on what it could be?

 

Must have picked up a couple of Gremlins on that ride....

 

I would check primary chain tension.

 

If your oil pump is not circulating enough oil it will make a knocking sound like that. I would confirm the pressure is good then make sure theres no blockage anywhere.

 

It could be the girl scouts! They might be bringing you your cookies!

Thin mints please. Does it do it while hot?

 

Maybe not from the engine but near it. Check the exhaust and shields, front motor mount, etc. ( Things that rattle more at low rpm's.)

Can you get more specific as the where/which side the sound is coming from?

 

compensator bolt is coming loose

 

Not sure what ya ride but my sglide knocks after hot in neutral pull clutch in it goes away and i am told this is normal
