Default Dead Fuel Pump

2007 Electra Glide Classic 40K miles.

Has been running perfectly when on a recent ride I was coming to a stop at a light and it died on me. Wouldn't restart. When I turn the ignition switch there is no Fuel Pump start up sound. All fuses look good.

I was in a busy congested area and a cop wanted me off the side of the road. I got a tow from a friend, this was three weeks ago, and dropped it off at the dealer (who I have a decent relationship with) on June 9th as I was heading up to Laconia. I have another bike, and these guys know it.

So they've been ignoring it, apparently, as they are sooo busy and today I find out they haven't even looked at it yet, and they don't even have a fuel pump in stock. But they "promise" me they'll look at it soon. Do I sound a tad peeved?

So what are the chances that it isn't the fuel pump? I found another dealer that has one, it's $250 for the pump/filter assembly. I am thinking of picking the bike up and taking home and fixing it myself.

Any experience with Fuel Pump issues on 07s? Think it's a safe bet to buy a fuel pump?

Thanks for any advice.

Get your bike out of there! You've been fed BS!! Go with the one that has the part on hand and ride past and flip the other guys off!

So I got the dealership to work on it, and after working on it an hour they call me and say, "come and get it, it's fixed".

They diagnosed it to a burnt ECM fuse. (Like I said I got chased off the highway by the local cops that didn't want me troubleshooting and the side of the road.) The they replaced the fuse and the Fuel Pump worked, so they started the bike and it was only running on one cylinder. They eliminated the PCIIIusb and the bike ran fine. So they diag'd it as a bad PCIII.

So I took it home and checked the PCIII and it connects to my PC fine and looks like a good map, but I re-install the FuelMoto Map I've been using since I go the bike in 07. It takes the install fine.

So then I put it back on the bike and exactly what the mechanic at dealer says. it runs on one cylinder. Also, it doesn't talk to the PC laptop connected to the usb port. it looks dead and gave me strange error codes.

So, then I find out a friend has another PCIII that is also the right unit, for my 07 Classic (805-510) so he lends it to me, and I install it. Nope.. same problem, will only run on one cylinder. Although this one does talk to me via the usb port.

Anyone ever have an experience with a PCIIIusb like this? I guess I'll be calling Jamie tomorrow for some advice. If anyone has seen everything this units do, it's most likely him.

Any ideas guys?
