I bought an 08 EG a few months and am starting to get familiar with it. Last week I took off the right side cover and found out I have a Power Commander USB on the bike. Being fairly new to the tuning aspect of the bike I'm wondering what I can now do tuning wise on the bike. Obviously I'll have to find out what intake/exhause combination I have. The exhaust has B&B engraved on the muffler, but I've never heard of them. I don't know what intake is on the bike as of yet.
If I was to call Power Commander, would they be able to give me any info based on the vin number? Obviously the previous owner hads different riding style from me so I'd like to see what options I can program the bike for.
You're going to need to get the USB cable and Dynojet software to see what kind of tune was loaded into your PCIII. You may try calling the guys at FuelMoto after the holiday. I'm almost certain they'll be able to point you in the right direction.
Chances are that the bike is already tuned for the hardware it had bolted on when you bought the bike. If its running good and has good pep, then you might be in good shape already. Remember, best not to fix things if they are not messed up. But I think it would be a good idea to get a cable, hook up your pc, and see how the tuning tables look.

I'm sure you've heard the old saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
The VIN number will mean nothing to the Power Comander, exhaust or inatke.
Search all the threads typing 'PCV, Power Commander III, tuners'in the search field. Settle in and read it all and familiarize yourself with the tuner before you call FuelMoto or everything or most of what he tells you will confuse you. Theres a lot of threads on the subject so read em all and every time someone starts a thread like this one read it and absorb the content. After awhile you will be answering help questions and contributing to the forum knowledge base and the cycle of knowledge will come full circle......see you out there, Tucci
Any chance you can get in touch with the previous owner?
If not, do as suggested and get the software and cable. Shouldn't be too expensive. You will be able to see the map and it may even have a Dynojet
map # or description on it.
