All with the SE Comps, what lubes with all this noise and partial failure? I have 30,000 on my SE Comp and mine seems not much different from new. It got noisy with some of the purpose made primary lube, when I went back to 20-50 it was quiet again. It was the Spectro lube made for chain drive primaries.

Hi Dawg - so what are the exact parts you replaced? I probably should do this too at some point. Like to knwo what I really need to order - or ois it really just easier to do the whole kit?

08 with about 13000 miles. (yeah I know but I work 7 days a week most of the time and have a "company" car so I can't even ride it to work) Original comp, no noise or anything. Have used the Redline primary oil since the 1000 mile service. Hope they come out with a final fix for the comp before I need one.

Might as well jump aboard this thread, My Ultra is on it's 3rd Compensator now .. The Original lasted 30K started banging horribly and was replaced under warranty with a SE Comp .. All was good for another 30K and now has it's second SE one .. Guess I should just hope get another 30K the ways things are going ..

Default Will there be a new part number????

Long story short (07 SG) clutch ring decided to loose a few teeth, so the primary had to come apart. Due to advice from the forum I ordered a SE Comp. My dealer said on Monday they were back ordered till 7/13 and he was 494 out of 500 dealers waiting on the SE Comp. I called yesterday and now it's 7/30. Parts guy called and said he is getting a SE Comp from another dealer, who had one in stock. My concern is will the "New Batch" of SE Comp be a remanufactured/upgraded with a new part number? If so should I wait? My bike is sitting in my garage with the primary wide open waiting for a SE Comp. But I don't want to be opening up my primary in a few thousand miles

The symptoms we are seeing suggest the engineers missed two considerations: designing in enough paths for lubrication and under estimating the hardness needed in the surfaces of the cams and sprocket spokes. Perhaps a combination of harder surfaces and greater surface area for the cam/spoke interface would spread the load over a greater surface area still maintain the compensating capability of the design.

Because the "full kit" included a new rotor, only the compensator parts need to be purchased for those who already have the SE comp. when the final revision is developed and made available. Perhaps going back to the previous design with a much heavier spring might be one way to go.

Sounds like the MoCo engineers were asleep at the wheel, don't they do enough R&D on this stuff before they just throw it all together with wire and a rabbits foot and call it good to go?
I get the " old school part", just not the parts that are suspect for not holding up ....
