Default 2012 ultra classis fuel mileage

Bought a new ultra 4 weeks ago got 38 mpg 1 time all other times 35 and 36 mpg. Looks like it should get atleast 40mpg. Any ideals.

Almost exactly what I get on mine. My usual fill-up is at 160 miles and I put in 4.4 gallons - just over 36 mpg. That's all-around riding - if I do a lot of highway on a long trip then I get up around 40, maybe a little more.

If you keep it between 55-60 mph, you should end up in the high 40's.

At least I did on my 2011 on Fri/Sat, June 29-30

Out west the air is thinner and we do get better mileage but I get 50+ now and then but always 47+. I am not an aggressive rider though.

Absolutely, the mileage gets better, the transmission shifts better, neutral is easy to find, the engine actually runs better all at about 5000 on mine.

I understand that different things are important to different people . With that said , if I drove like this my MPG would go up but my "fun level" would go down . I'll pay for the extra gas .
