Default Engine cut out, during hard accel?

2011 Ultra limited 103, 2000 miles. Power commander 5, Rhinehart td's, A/N big sucker.

This has happened before, and I thought maybe it was a fluke? Or my imagination? Theres no mistake here.. Here goes....

Complete stop at stop sign. Take off, hard left. Riding 2 up, heavy lean and as i straighten up, really lean into the throttle. Hit 2nd gear, hard on the throttle again..The bike SHUT OFF.. for 3? seconds? not sure exactly.. Was so noticeable my wife asked me why i turned it off? this has happened a couple times, before, like I said. I always thought it was my imagination, but there was no mistaking it this time. Other than this, it runs perfect. No hiccups, no problems starting, etc. Rest of my ride (an hour) it was fine. Tried to duplicate it, and it didn't do it. In case someone is thinking rev limiter, I DEFINITELY wasn't at the rev limiter. I have hit the limiter before, and it wasn't that kind of feeling.. It was like i hit the kill switch, and then turned it back on. My first inclination is the PC? i plan on getting it on the dyno, before summers end, anyway. Id hate to bring it to the dealer, and have them tell me its something with the PC, and whack me for a few hundred for nothing.

So your thoughts, please?

Find an Indy and have them look at it if you think its the PC. They will probably charge you less. The place I take mine to charges 50 to tell me whats wrong if I can't figure it out myself.

I am interested here because this is pretty much the setup I will have when I get home. Just different TDs.... Never heard this happening.

I agree with the notion to go to an indy. I would never ask a dealer to investigate a problem. They put their rooky tech on it to run the clock up. Ask around to find who the better indys are.

double check the connection of the PC. I have a PC on my 12 CVO, i was in freeway traffic, under hard throttle, running about 90 and it just cut off, obviously longer than 3 seconds. but cut off just the same. coasted to side of road. Cut bike off and on, it started right back up. Could not figure it out. Took seat off and checked the PC connection, no issues. Started back up the road and it happened about 30 miles later. stopped and took seat off again, checked connection, could not see any issues. Took a zip tie out and zip tied the connection together so it could not vibrate, took off again and 5K later, no issues. I think it was working loose slightly even though it should not and you get a slight electrical disconnect.

my experience

If you are shifting hard close to the rev limiter the ECM will sense an overrev condition and shut the motor down temporarily. It will feel like you hit the kill switch for a moment. If you let off the throttle the bike will come back quick (almost instantly) and run fine. This happens with the PCV more often with rev extend enabled. Take it out and try that. If it does it consistently thats all it is and nothing is wrong. I adjusted my shifting a little and it has never happened to me again.

Here's another vote for SG_Dave's explanation, i.e., rev limiter issue. Could be something more complicated, but I'd bet on the easier stuff first. Hope that's all it is for you.

How full was the fuel? If it was low and you accelerated after a hard turn it might have sucked air for a second and then recovered.

He has a Power Commander. He can raise it to 6200 if he hasn't already.
