I have a 06 ultra classic with a big bore 95" with hq 34 gear dr cams high flow oil pump se clutch upgrade tru duals vh headers and rhine hart 3-1.2 slip ons. My indy was mentioning that I might want to swap from the se racing tuner to a power commander that way I am not having to run to a dyno man or the stealer ship every time i make a change. He says I would have to have the se tuner wiped clean by the dealer and start new. Any opinions would be appreciated thanks
If it is running good I wouldnt change a thing. If you are planning future mods that would require a different tune I would probably stay with the SE tuner and do all the mods at once. Unless you can find a map for your build most likely you will have to dyno tune anyways. For best results always dyno tune.
Personally I chose to go with the Power Vision for the reason your indy stated but there were two other reasons. The first is I didnt have a tuning device to begin with and second the Power Vision is like the SE tuner, meaning it does not have to plug in and stay with your bike. It is one less electrical component along with electrical connections that may fail. Not to mention most HD dealerships will not work on a bike with a PC when trouble shooting electrical and tuning issues.
