I had the HD oiol temp gauge and it was hard to read as the graduations are not equal and the range I was most concerned with was the hardest. I went with a Roger McEwen gauge and it is great. Easy to figure out the graduations. It is spot on temp wise measured with an IF gun and the HD gauge was not. I found the gauge very useful when dialing in my base maps as the oil temps and CHT seemed high in certain RPM ranges. After altering the timing these temps came down and that was reflected in the oil temp as well as the CHT. I like mine.
This picture is showing the location of my Polk Audio Tweeters, but you can see my guages, I think the oil temp is bottom left, or top left. Cant remember where I put but looks exactly the same as the other guages.
cool thanks
ya my air temp thingy i dont think is right...its left most of the time
I installed the Titanium Oil Temp gauge on my 2012 FLHTK where the ambient air temp gauge was. The toughest part was finding the air temp sensor that you will need the wire harness from for the oil gauge.
The air temp sensor is on the left frame rail, just ahead of the gas tank. I will attach a photo of the sensor.

so let me get this right... the new temp gauge does NOT come with the harness for $150? wtflip
This is the AutoMeter *4356* that I'm installing.
I took the bushing and probe sensor to a machinist so that the probe would protrude further out the end of the bushing for a more accurate reading.
I removed the Hex plug and installed the oil temp sensor, I also took the light out of the "AIR TEMP" gauge and put it in my "OIL TEMP" gauge to keep the same color lighting.
Thanks goes out to Fabrik8r for all his help with this project...

Yes - it comes with everything you need. The gauge reuses the wiring from the air temperature gauge from the connector of the air temperatue sensor on up to the gauge, thus making it easier to connect. This is one of the more intelligent designs for an accessory.

always been a fan of AUTO METER, you have any pics of this installed?

Here is a URL of a past post with pics, I am still not finished with mine. I had my inner fairing painted and dont have it all back together yet but did take a couple pics with autometer gauge sitting in the fairing. I will add a chrome bezel to the outer edge when I'm all done......good luck with your search and its your bike do what you want with it....ride safe

I'll be damned, I didn't know that. I just ran the wire directly to the guage. Always wondered where that air temp sensor was. now I know.
