The windshield saga with the Road Glide will make your head spin. I have heard pros and cons on each shield I looked at. However I found that the Recurve type seems to work best if you ride 2 up.

Cons I heard about the "Flare" type shields. Great for the rider but terrible for the passanger. Decent protection at lower heights.

Pros I heard about the recurve. Great protection with lower heights for both the rider and the passanger.

I have gone (for the time being) with a 12" windvest. (Buddy had one he loved but it was way to short for his wind protection)

I'm 5'8" with a 31" inseam. It works good but not great for me. I can see over it no issues, however over 60mph I do get some significant buffeting. When 'm 2 up its better because my GF adds about 130lbs and lowers it a bit.

I am waiting for the LRS new higher shield I think i,m going for a 13" or 14" light tint for touring times and keep the 12" dark smoked for weekend jaunts.

Good luck with this continued RG saga.

Frank

I'm 6'-2" 34" inseam and I'm running the Clearview GT small (11 1/2") shield with the plastic air deflectors that mount on the crash bar. The wind I feel is what I would consider perfect; air moves across the top of my head but does not rattle me with or without a helmet and and with or without a passenger. My shirt just barely moves at 60 mph. Absolutely no buffeting.

My bike is an ultra with lowers and 12" shocks.

5'10 32" inseam here and I have a 10" wind vest and it works well but at highway speed get lots of wind, not to much for me but lots, a 12" would be perfect and will probably get one for fall riding.

There are many great W/S companies out there. I went with WindVest 14" on my RG because my salesman friend at the HD dealership had done all the research. He had 3 W/S before he got the one that worked for him. You're doing good so far with reaching out for info. Now picking the correct one will be up to you. Good Luck.

I have the tall clearview, works great on my RG. I'm disappointed that I had to buy a windshield at all. You'd think the engineer at the moco would take one off the line for a test spin. First thing you notice in the first 5 minutes is the windshield sucks.

I think the Long Ride shields look pretty good too. I will try one of them next.

I have the 14" wind vest and find it best out of all the ones i've tried, 6'2". Lowers are the best addition to a RG as far as wind management. If your looking to find as smooth a pocket as a batwing fairing provides, move on it aint gonna happen, LOL!

Yeah, I kinda figured there will be a little difference in the air pockets... of course with my 8'' on the Street Glide... I do still get wind.... just not ridiculous like when it had the factory 4"...... heck, I'm not positive that I'll be able to trade anyway... there is only ONE RG Custom left between the two dealers here... and the one I go to I like... ehhh we'll see.... if I do trade... I guess the RG saga will start... if not..... I'll have to put a bunch of crap back on my SG that I took off. :-D

Clearview Large, lowers, and those clip on the engine guards deflectors will give you a still air pocket so still that you can light a Bic lighter at 65 mph....... and it will stay lit.

The drawback....... it gets hot in that still air pocket......... and you can smell your own farts.

I now run a Windvest 12". I get some airflow to keep me cooler....... and I don't have to watch what I eat

ha... luckily not planning on doing lowers..... I get stuck with my own farts enough otherwise.. I can do without it on the bike.
