Talking Another WTF

This morning i drop off my bike @ Uke's Harley in Kenosha for Starting problem.when its hot.
Under Warranty.... they call call me . back around 2 pm that bike is ready, went to pick it . they charge me ,2 hrs. of labor + 4$ for parts..Sparkplugs.
they told me that the E3 plugs was not compatible with my stock96 engine . my engine is 103 . idiot. i keep my mouth shut.and pay . for thinking thats the problem. Got home Check my home maintenance charts. and check when is the last time . I replaced the plugs it was 2008 @ 15k , 2009 @ 38k , 2010 @57k, 2011@65k .,now i got 67k . so my plugs is kinda new. Using E3 plugs for those period of time . never cost me troubles. Anyway thinking that, that is not the real problem. i decided to go for a test drive. The bike is doing same thing before and after they replaced the plugs. So i call them while on the phone told them to listen .while im starting the bike. . . the guy Dave on the other End say ohh!! its the starter .... i almost say **** ,,, thats what i told your Guy this morning. .
Okay guys here is the thing . Should i get my money back .? What is the best thing to say tommorow? without harsh words . . this also the second time this year, that i got bad experience on Moco tech . my pet Monkey is smarter than some of damn Tech Around . i think... sorry for the long post .

I would just make sure they understand what you said and let them repeat it and have it in writing then call back.

Or you can go to Woodstock and have then do it for you. Best service ever

other than OEM plugs can cause spurious readings to the ECM- which can result in incorrect timing advance.

this may be what they were addressing.

you could always ask them for details.

I would tell them since you pointed to the starter the first time you brought it in, that the 2 hours of service time should be applied to the starter replacement.

That's a shame at Ukes. I've got a guy here in MKE that I use...I refuse to have any "real" work done at the dealers around town except for a recall - but even then I'll have my guy double check their work. Only exceptions: Suburban H-D and Hal's - no experience at MKE H-D but I've heard they have made some good improvements. All others are crap...just looking to charge a buck anywhere they can.

Hell yeah you aught to get your money back and you may want to have the correct plugs put back onto the bike if they thought you had a 96!!

PLEASE post the outcome...I'd like to know if I aught to never go out there to Uke's again!!

You should not have to pay for a problem they did not fix the first time.

Agreed - they should apply this as a "credit" to this service + discuss the issue w/Svs Mgr. Let them know you indicated the starter issue to tech when bike was delivered 1st time. Good luck!

Angelrod,

I live in Lake Geneva and drive right by Ukes all the time on my way up to Racine HD. So does everyone I know. I would recommend the same. Go to Racine and ask for Paul the service manager. Then ask for Maddy to work on your bike. You won't get screwed, you won't get talked into extra parts or BS. The only issue I ever have with Racine is that they are usually booked out for 2 weeks, and it's not because they don't have people.

Mark

PS it sounds like the same issue I was having on my 07 SG
