Default Help PRIMARY TORX WON'T MOVE

I was going to change my primary fluid today the torx screws on the derby cover were exstremely difficult to losen .
i managed to brake all but one free .
i am afaid i will strip the head .
any tips on how to get this screw loose without stripping it.
i am considering taking it back to the dealer that overtightened them to get it unscrewed but thats a 200 mile round trip.

Hand held impact driver

Air impact driver (local garage)

Cut a slot in it with a Dremel & chisel it out with a screwdriver & hammer (last resort)

It's always the LAST ONE that is the bastard!

Use your "man" hands! Haha... Just kidding. Good luck. Are you using a rachet or a screw driver? Try hard steady pressure on the rachet with a small breaker bar. Heavy pressure but very slight movements.

I have experience in situations like this. I recomend a drift so you can apply hammer blows to the head of the fastener. Smack it a few times does wonders to loosen up.

Some heat and a good tap with a bolt long enough to hold and big enough to cover the whole head of the screw....that will shock it good...when reinstalling just snug good by hand, no loctite...

Mine had the same problem. I tried smacking it with the hammer, heating it, used a dremel to cut a slot in it. Nothing worked. I finally used a drill bit and drilled into the center of it. The "easy out" broke the head off, which was OK because then I could get the cover off. But what was left of the Torx was still inside the hole. I ended up locking some vice-grips onto it and finally got it out.

I replaced all the Torx with Allen type screws I picked up from Lowes.

Good luck.

Drill it out and go to the hardware store. Get 5 ea 1/4-20 stainless allen screws 1/2" or 5/8" long. Never worry about torx stripping again.
