Default Wow that was close...

Driving my new to me 99 EG Standard this morning on my way to work going North on Rt 29 towards Warrenton, Va, a flash from the corner of my eye comes out from the median between the divided highway, a deer flies right in front of me, no time to hit the brakes just flash, my heart stops and I thought it was all over. I have no idea how I did not hit that deer, he was in full stride, I was going 60 and I thought for sure there was going to be a impact, I could have reached out and touched the thing, I don't know whos eyes were bigger, his or mine as we were not more then a couple of feet apart eye to eye. I pulled in at Sheetz less then a mile up the road to regroup and change my underwear, I really thought that was going to be it for me, my bike and the deer, I still can't believe I did not hit the thing....

Those little buggers come out of nowhere...bad here in NE + MN (where I grew up) too. Glad you made it out w/no impact...ride on!

Have had a close call up here in the Fairfax area as well. I see deer all over the place taking naps beside the road. Some with their legs sticking straight up in the air.

do yourself a favor (and I am not saying this is the reason for your close call)

but upgrade to the Truck Lite Phase 7

it's about $220 for the light and another $40 for the trim ring to make it look right, but what a difference and many of the guys that have updated their light to either the HD LED or the Truck Lite LED have expressed the amount of DEER they now see on the side of road (that were ALWAYS THERE) they just never saw them before.

maybe one of the best upgrades for safety that you can do

Thanks for the tip, I would like to upgrade my lights, I think the headlight has been upgraded on my bike already and I have the passing lamps to. It was full daylight out so lights would not have made a difference, he came out of a wooded median at full speed, still can't believe I did not hit him, his rear feet must have missed my helmet by less then a foot.

The wife and I had the exact experience 2 weeks ago, except 1 difference, it wasn't a deer, it was a woman in a Toyota 4 Runner talking on her cell phone, the wife still won't get on the back. Well, at least were still here to talk about it!

glad it was only a close call. I ride through wooded areas, & game lands everyday to work and think about it constantly.

My 75 year old man just hit a deer at 60mph a couple weeks ago. $8,000.00 damage to his bike. He rode through it though. didnt even stop because he was almost home. He took some pix. He hade guts and blood all over him and the bike. Tough old bugger I'm so glade he didnt lay it down.
