Hay Graham good post wish I had found this before I put mine up it would only take a minute movement of swing arm to change the rear wheel tracking then it unloads and repeats I need to find a better way to search in the forums so this winter the fun begins wrenching on the dresser. One question I'm going to lower the forks one inch should I switch to dual cartridges or stay single

Smile True Track Trackula

Hello
I have a 2008 CVO Ultra experienced very bad wobble a few times with 2 up and loaded. Almost uncontrollable! Long sweeping turns at 75 + mph. Installed a True Track Trackula system have put about 3000 miles on the bike since I was installed. Haven't experienced any wobble and I have intentionally tied to make it happen! The handling is simply amazing! It feels like I a completely different bike! Didn't realize my bike handled that bad till this was installed. Handling is greatly improved in all riding situations. From high speed to slow speed.
Hope this info helps.

Good question! It falls outside the main topic here, although there is no doubt our forks will benefit from better quality components inside them. I'm installing a set of Ohlins FKC101 cartridges in my own bike at present, which can be used in a lowered set-up. I'm not in a position to ride it yet, so can't comment on any improvement, although they have had good reviews. Although they have two cartridges, one of them damps in compression, the other one in rebound.

OK I read the whole thread. I like the sta bo1 for my 99 but hate to put that much into the old swing arm & have it crack after that. Don't really want to do the swing arm upgrade at this time. So all my bushings look good so I think the best thing for me is to stay on track with what's been mentioned about the missing link.
Sent them email request & have not heard back yet.
I have experienced the wobble & now feal like I'm on marshmallow's.

Has any body ever braced one of the original swing arms?

Another good question! The open-ended tube is a serious problem and one reason why they are known to crack, across the wheel axle slot. The later swingarms are far superior on that detail alone. Adding bracing would be a challenge. The easiest way to add it would be underneath, however we don't have a lot of ground clearance! It would be interesting to see a successful conversion, however it will not be a major solution to curing our wobble.

I wish the admins would post this tip as the first sticky in every forum.

Google or Bing are much better search engines than the forum search function.

You can limit your seearch to just hdforums.com by using the following tip:

Add "site:hdforums.com" to your search term.

Good one Keith ... You're absolutely correct. The "search" function here is archaic and needs complete revision/update.

I think you're right about it not addressing the wobble, I thought of that after the original post.

I have a later swingarm in my 1990 bike, along with Ohlins shocks and True-Track, simply because I could see that it will give improved wheel control, by not twisting or flexing as much as the original one. However I must confess that I can't tell while riding! A stiffer swingarm is a 'nice to have', but there are far more significant things at play, that affect how our bikes behave.
