My bike runs great at speeds. I found out you can't set cruise above 90mph. If I could I'd cruise 100mph all day. Furthermore my mileage is ****. These guys talking 48mpg must be doing something I'm not. I have a 6 gallon tank and I'd never get >250 miles to a tank...never in a million years.
My engine mods and heavy right hand may be a factor though bahaha
Don't the 5 and 6 speeds both turn at a 1 to 1 ratio in high gear.
If that's the case then which tranny is irrelevant if your rolling at highway speeds in top gear.
Corrected if I'm wrong
Sounds like something wrong, stock 88 with Stage 1 AC and exhaust and I have no problems accelerating to 85-90 with no big loss of power. Once I hit 90-95 range it starts to slow down a bit.
I cruise about 80 with no problem maintaining the speed on slight hills. Have to give it a little more throttle on the big ones.

...now you got me searching....
Well....5th in a 5 speed is 3.15:1
and 6th in a six speed is 2.875:1
5th in a six speed is 3.407:1
very close....
I am not for sure...but the above may be final drive (overall) ratios...having a hard time finding the data.
I think the primary and final drive have different ratios also...

Greetings. I bought an 06 Road King back in February. Its a great bike, I've ridden the hell out of it. Its the fuel injected model, big bore 96" kit, 5 speed, and was already equipped with a Power Commander 3, S&S headers, and SuperTrapp exhaust. I've noticed when I go anything over 65-70 mph it feels like the bike is working to hard to maintain/exceed that speed. My question is this, are my expectations wrong and this is normal for the bike, or is it possible the bike isn't properly set up? I have dyno sheets where the previous owner had it dyno'd, and I've done all the proper maintenance since I've had it. Like I said, great bike, runs like a champ, just not sure if performing properly. I don't care to get it dyno'd again, but I hate to spend the money on it if it isn't needed. Also, I'm averaging about 36-38 MPG. Thanks.
No mention of an A/C replacement (Stage I)... That is where I would begin if the breather hasn't been upgraded.
With all of the other work, I would assume you just didn't mention the A/C.
For those asking about dyno numbers, I've scanned and attached the map. Also, it does have the Screaming Eagle breather installed, forgot that. Thanks. I agree, this is all subjective. It may even be something I'm doing, shifting too soon or something like that. I appreciate all the feedback I've gotten, thanks again. Also, I see looking at the dyno sheet this was done in 2010. I'm new to the fuel injected/dyno tuning world, is this something that should be done regularly? I'm assuming, though not positive, that the motor work, etc. was done prior to this dyno testing.
I haven't noticed any issue with my 05 but I haven't logged too many highway miles. I've only got the bike a month or two. What I do notice is some buffeting over about 75 but no lack of extra power when needed.
