Default Street Glide Question

Have a question that hopefully some one can help answer.
I have a 2011 SG,why doesn't HD put an oil or engine temp gauge on the bike? The current gauge is only for outside air temp. Wouldnt it make sense to have one or not?
If adding one aftermarket where would be the best place to install and how difficult would it be to do.

Thank for the the help eveyone.

Just get their temp dip stick. That alone is over 60 bucks.....once you talk about going into the dash etc it a bit more time and money.

Personally, I don't think they want you seeing how hot an air cooled engine gets. Could very well have to do with thinking you will buy a gauge from them too.
You can buy a gauge from Harley that looks like the rest of your gauges.
You can buy a bike mounted gauge. Seen'em mounted to the rear head.
As Gliden said you can buy a gauge built into the oil cap.

Personally I'll go with one of the latter if/when I buy one. Eventually I'll have a tank mounted fuel gauge and 2 tweeters in the fairing.

Useless tool. You will wreck because you will always be looking at it! Plus I'm not sure what I would do with that info anyway... short of buying an 88 cu. in. It's gonna be a hot mother no matter what you do. It's better just to ride and never let all that messy "info" get in the way.

Probably because people would constantly bitch that their bikes run too hot.

I changed out my Air Temp gauge for an Oil Temp gauge on my first Street Glide.
Complete waste of money.

With install it's about $380

I'd like to see a link to this. All I've seen are an Oil Pressure Gauge.

There's no room and the air temp gauge is way more important, this way when you are riding a long you can check the air temp reading to see if you need to put a coat on.
