Some times yes some times no. At Sturgis over the years I did test rides on many bikes. Some I bought within a year or two some models I never tried.

My first HD was a 07 FXSTC in Aug of 06. I knew just looking at it that I had to have it. No test ride. I bought a Dyna Superglide without riding it as I needed a Dyna to fill the collection of having at least one model from each HD family.

The Dyna beats the rider up handles poorly over 80. I have done some adjustments and have finally bonded with it this year. It is what it is a strong running little hot rod with some faults. A test ride would not have changed my mind on buying it. I 08 at Sturgis, I test rode the new 09 Road Glide to check out the fixed fairing and new frame I liked it but it took until the 12's to get one.

I test rode the Buell Ulysses two years in a row before I bought one. Once at the dealer and once at Sturgis.

I think a lot of riders buy without riding one. I have never found a dealer that lets a rider try out a new Goldwing.

Victory and Can Am set up test rides all over the place. Victory each year at Laughlin will let you test ride as many models as you want, set up a sell right there with financing and a trade in if you want. Then they will let the trade in go for less than they have in it.

When you look at the price and figure out how long you might keep it.....its worth the money to go rent one. I did that and was really glad I did as I was able to ride all day and try it on all the types of roads I like to ride. As far as getting used to it....maybe four or five minutes and I was hooked.....right through the wallet.

Get the Road Glide. You'll love it. The more I ride mine, the more I like it.

I took a glide on a 30 mile test ride to see if I would like it. I liked it, but I was also able to tell what I didn't like and begin to figure out if I could live with the things I didn't like or modify the bike to fix the things I didn't like. So far, so good.

Good luck on getting your glide.
