For several months, my 2011 FLHTCUI generates intermittent and fairly loud static noises when radio is on (yet muted), with or without the intercom or CB active. It is sometimes generated when going over bumps (but not always), and sometime comes on at random; has anyone experienced this, and if so, what is/was the fix. Intermittent electrical problems are hard to diagnose!
If it generates when going over bumps it would seem to be a poor connection somewhere in the radio/antenna system.
I would start checking connection with the antenna's working from the Tourpak connections towards the radio, then check all ground connections you can find.
You didn't say if the static increases and decreases with engine RPM so could be the resistance in the spark plug wires or a bad spark plug?
Still under warranty-- take it back and let them fix it.....
You mentioned cb "active" do you actually have it on. Turn it off and see if that gets rid of your problem. A lot of people we ride with get the emergency transponder static when you go through traffic lights. But the cb would hafta be on
