Default Stage 1 upgrade

I have a 2008 Electra Glide Ultra Classic and was going to start on the cheap with just a Stage 1 air cleaner then add cam, fuel pak, exhaust as $$$ permitted. But most places I read kinda push for doing them all together. Where to start? Stick with Screaming Eagle all the way? Aftermarket? I'm not looking for a race bike - just something to wake the bagger up! Suggestions Please!

I recommend Fuel Moto. They are a forum sponsor and there are MANY satisfied customers amongst the Touring forum, myself included. And do yourself a favor and do it all at once. It isn't that pricey.

Thanks for the input - I did contact them first - $1,800 (I needed headers too) is a little salty. I just want be sure I'm getting what I want before I lay that much out.

Dumb question...but that price, is that installed? Reason I ask, is my stage one minus the cams was that much...+\- $$.

Screamin' Eagle 254 and 255 cams produce some excellent numbers for baggers .... no reason to not consider them when choosing a cam ... excellent quality too!

You may find that a stage 1 is really all you want or need to do.
I wanted mine to look a little different , sound a little different , more throttle response , better fuel mileage.
These were "my parameters" for my bike.
The S&S air filter was a must as I like the look , and the small size made the pushrod tubes easier to clean , the performance boost surprised me.
I really wanted Stainless mufflers with a deep sound , that was hard , but I found a set of SPO mufflers in the classifieds here for really cheap shipped with 2 sets of baffles.
I didn't really want to go with a tuner , as my mods were pretty tame , so I researched the stage 1 download and it seemed like a pretty good way to go.
I'm pretty well set , it looks different , sounds different , and the fuel mileage and throttle response went up for about .....
$280.00 air filter setup
$200.00 Stainless mufflers
$140.00 Stage 1 download
35-40 mpg city
46-50 mpg highway
Sure there's more power in there to be made , but I could cam it and do another download , and still be pretty well set.
It certainly didn't cost too much to do if you research carefully and be patient for deals to appear in your quest.

Not sure on the specific components you are looking at for your 08 bike or what we quoted you on for $1800?, however we have complete Stage 1 packages including Jackpot slip on mufflers, FM Pro Billet air cleaner, and a Dynojet PC-V for $689.00 with free shipping and there are plenty of other options & choices we offer for simillar or not much more money. For best results and overall performance I would recommend the stock head pipe over most aftermarket options.

I didn't spend anywhere near that. Is that including head pipe and cams? Labor?
Really doubt you need to do head pipe. Cams definitely do not need to be done with a stage 1. You do need to do the whole stage 1 at the same time though.

Might be able to save some bucks by buying exaust off Ebay or here. Jaime will set your PCV to any exhaust you tell him you bought. Still don't know where that $1,800 came from but Fuel Moto is good people.

I kept my stock head pipes, got the Rush Big Louie's, and a SE Heavy Breather with a download at the stealer and didn't pay even half that!
